Holy Gnatman! The caped crusader takes on a whole new identity in the Gaslight Theatre’s latest production, Gnatman! Gnatman and friends take crime fighting to a hilarious and fun new level thanks to the Gaslight Theatre. My family and I were hosted by The Gaslight Theatre in exchange for a review of The Gnatman but as always all opinions are my own. Keep reading for a review as well the chance to win tickets to see a performance!

A REVIEW OF THE GASLIGHT THEATRE’S GNATMAN

Have you ever heard of Gnatman? If not, you’re missing out! It’s the latest production at the Gaslight Theatre and it will cause laughter, from start to finish. Characters like Gnatman, Jester, Penguin, Manfred, and Tiger Lady will remind the audience of superheroes like Batman and villains like the Joker, the Penguin, and Catwoman. Indeed, many of the scenes are reminiscent of the Batman TV series starring Adam West, utilizing comic book style props like Zocko! (seen in the photo above!). One of my favorite scenes is when Gnatman (played by Mike Yarema) and his sidekick Atom (played by Jake Chapman) scale a tall building with a grappling hook and rope. Gnatman also has his own catchy theme song. As for the villains, Todd Thompson is extremely funny as Jester. You’ll love to hate him! Audience participation was at an all time high during the performance; my son couldn’t stop laughing at all the high jinks. Not only do the performers interact well with the audience, but they also interact well with each other. The ladies brought their own sass and humor to their characters (Janee Page as Tiger Lady, Erin Thompson as Gnatgirl, and Heather striker as Mrs. Bennington).

Here’s a little more about The Gaslight Theatre presents Gnatman:

“Mammoth City can breathe a sigh of relief now that Gnatman has captured the sinister Jester and this Master of Mayhem is safely behind bars. OR IS HE? Suddenly, the masked crusader is faced with his biggest challenge yet. Not only is the Jester back, he has enlisted the Legion of E.V.I.L.! Will Gnatman alone be able to ward off this threat or will he need help from a very unlikely source?? Join us and find out what tricks the Jester has up his sleeve and how Gnatman will keep Mammoth City free of crime!”

You’ve Got Talent Olio

If you’ve read my reviews for a while, you know that I love the Olio. However, it can be tricky with my 5 year old son. He likes the slapstick comedy in the main performance (like Gnatman). However, the Olios mostly consistent of impersonations of well known musicians. And while I love the impersonations during the Olio, my son isn’t familiar with many of the musicians who are impersonated. He is, however, familiar with the song Who Let the Dogs Out, lol. And that’s one of the songs played in this particular olio. The olio is inspired by American Idol, and Mike Yarema does an amazing impersonation of blunt Simon Cowell. Also, pop songs from Taylor Swift will make guests Want to Shake It Off. The closing act is a great impersonation of The Backstreet Boys.

IS GNATMAN KID FRIENDLY?

Gnatman is extremely kid friendly! I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, my 5 year old, or the adults. It’s a great performance for the whole family to experience, and you can never go wrong with a spoof of well known superheroes.
