My family and I recently spent a relaxing weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona. While we were there, my husband and I decided to take our son to a nearby train park in the area called McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. It’s more than just a train park and there’s plenty of things to do, especially for younger children like my preschool aged son. Listed below are the reasons why 🙂
When you drive up to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, you’ll know you are in the right place when you see the train near the entrance!
Train Station
The train station at the entrance looks just like an actual train station. There, you can purchase tickets for a train ride and a ride on the carousel. My son always enjoys going inside and looking around.
The Carousel
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll notice that we love carousels. I especially enjoy them because it’s something that all ages can ride, even children younger than 1 years old. While my son enjoys riding the horses, he also likes sitting inside a wagon that’s also on the carousel.
The Mccormick-Stillman Railroad Park is more than a train park. There’s also a carousel on site.
The Train
This is the train that goes around the park, through tunnels and over bridges. We’ve been on children’s train rides that don’t last very long, but we were impressed with the duration of the train ride at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park the first time we rode it. My son loves watching the scenery as we chug along the park.

The Playgrounds
There are two different types of playgrounds at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Both playgrounds do not cost anything. One of the playgrounds looks like a little western village, complete with a slide.
The other playground is bigger, though, and has more of a variety of slides. One of the slides is even designed to look like a train.
Food Options
There are places to eat at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park for a reasonable price. For example, we ordered a children’s meal at one of the snack shacks - it was approximately $4.00 for mac and cheese, potato chips, chocolate milk, and a train whistle. It was more than enough for my son. As always, though, check the price before you place an order 🙂

There’s also a train museum at the park, for train enthusiasts. The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is a fun place to spend a morning or afternoon.
