Tucson Botanical Gardens….and a Giveaway!!

One of my family’s favorite places in Tucson is the Tucson Botanical Gardens. I enjoyed the Botanical Gardens long before I was married and had a child. It’s very peaceful, and beautiful to just walk around and see the different plants. Back then, I would take my dogs to walk around the gardens, and even had their pictures taken with Santa during the holidays.

I’m happy to see that the Gardens still allow dogs during the Dog Days of Summer.

Now, my visits involve taking my son.

And I’ve discovered that there is a lot more available for younger children to see/do than I originally thought. We have a family membership for a number of reasons: (1) the Thornville Garden Railway, (2) the Butterfly Greenhouse and (3) the Children’s Discovery Garden.

My son could literally stand there the whole time and watch the electric train go ’round and ’round the tracks.

The Butterfly Greenhouse is open seasonally. I think it opens again in October but as always, call to verify beforehand. We enjoy it because not only are we able to see beautifully colored butterflies but sometimes we are lucky and we are able to see frogs as well.

We were also lucky enough to see a special LEGO exhibit last year. There were several displays throughout the Gardens made with LEGOS and the details were amazing to see in person.

The LEGO exhibit has since moved on, but keep an eye out for future exhibits. I know I would love to visit during the Luminaria Nights. It’s never worked out before with the timing, but the lights look beautiful in the pictures I’ve seen.
